5th Holi Mela in Tokyo

Away from home, a group of volunteers under the banner Holi Mela Committee has started organizing the festival of colors (Holi) in Nishi-Kasai.

What happens

Holi is one of the important festivals in the Hindu calendar. It is popularly known as a “Festival of colors” is a major publicly celebrated festival. Celebrants welcome the beginning of spring with bonfires and smearing different colors on the body. Each color representa a meaning: red symbolizes love and fertility; yellow is the color of turmeric, considered a most powerful natural remedy, represents auspiciousness; blue represents the Hindu God Krishna, and green is for new beginnings.

This year, Holi is celebrated on March 8.

Colors will be available at the site, so turn up in white and be prepared to get colorful!
