Ichiyo Cherry Blossom Festival

Rescheduled
1:00pm
Free

The Ichiyo Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Festival is a major event in Asakusa Kannon-ura that attracts big crowds every year. Take the chance to enjoy the yaezakura cherry blossoms in full bloom and an oiran (courtesan) parade.

What happens?

The Edo Yoshiwara Oiran Dochu parade recreates the processions held back in the Edo Period. It shows off oiran decked out in full attire walking with a big, fancy entourage. While it’s not exactly on the same level as Edo, this is probably as real as it gets in the 21st century.

There are also lots of food stands and refreshment booths. So if you haven’t gone flower-viewing already, this would be a great time to do that.

You can find a map of where they will parade here.

Schedule 2023

  • 12:30: The opening ceremony starts.
  • 13:00–13:45: The Oiran Dochu procession will start from Senzoku Elementary School and continue towards the stage.
  • 13:45: There will be a fox folk dance.
  • 14:15: An opportunity to take photos.
  • 14:45–15:30: Another chance to see the Oiran Dochu procession from the stage towards Senzoku Elementary School, where there will be a closing ceremony.

Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
