Free

In its 65th year, the Kamakura Festival, also known as the Kamakura Matsuri, is usually a week-long festival based around the impressive Tsurugaoka Hachimangū Shrine.

What happens?

The event usually features a variety of parades and performances with the highlight being a display of horseback archery (yabusame) on the last Sunday. For 2023, while the horseback archery will take place on April 16 at 2 p.m., you will need to purchase a wristband in advance for a chance to view it. Details here. There will be no general viewing area.

Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
