Winter Comiket

10:00am – 4:00pm
¥500 – ¥5,000

The winter edition of Comiket (there’s another in the summer) is normally one of Japan’s biggest comic-related events, held each year at Tokyo Big Sight. The focus of the event is dōjinshi — independently created and published manga. So given the thousands of amateur and professional manga artists in Japan, there is always an incredibly wide range of genres and styles on display.

Tickets

Historically a free event, Comiket has now limited admission to paid ticket holders to keep numbers down due to the pandemic. You must buy tickets in advance; they won’t be sold at the venue. Prices vary depending on the time and will have different accessible areas. Because of high demand, some tickets will be sold in a lottery system.

Entry from the afternoon starts at ¥500, from the morning ¥1,500, and early entry for the whole day is ¥5,000. They are all subject to a ¥330 service fee.

Cosplay

If you want to do cosplay, there is a similar process. Tickets are ¥2,000, and you have to get changed at the venue. Organizers advise that attendees should be “in good health when visiting Comiket and make sure to dress accordingly”.

The closest stations are Kokusai-Tenjijo-Seimon Station on the Yurikamome Line and Kokusai-Tenjijo Station on the JR Rinkai Line.

Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
