The official name of the festival is the Kitazawa Hachimanjinja Matsuri.
What happens?
Although scheduled for two days, the main festival takes place on the Sunday with mikoshi (shoulder-borne shrines) scheduled to be jostled through the streets.
Schedule 2023
Besides the mikoshi processions happening from 1 p.m. on Sunday, there will be entertainment in and around the shrine from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
How to get there
The shrine is located a 12-minute walk south of Shimokitazawa Station in the Daizawa Neighborhood.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
